Romeo Whiskey was born in mid 2015 from singer/guitarist Jim Maertz's love of the raw power of blues music. Jim began playing guitar at age 7 and was heavily influenced by blues and rock guitar players like Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Eddie Van Halen. All of these influences helped him for a style all his own. Having played in a few local band playing rock and country cover songs he decided that the way to fulfill his desire to play, sing, and write blues music was to form his own band. He quickly found drummer John Cameron through an online posting. John started drumming at the age of 14 and has honed his style playing in several local bands throughout the years. Growing up in the 80's/90's, his drumming style was guided by a wide variety of musical input. John's influences run the gamut of popular music from Garth Brooks, Tool, Allison Krauss, Union Station, The Flaming Lips, Philip Glass, Public Enemy, System of a Down, and XTC. The band was rounded out by Erica Mundt on bass guitar. Erica, while relatively new to the bass, has really taken command of the instrument and provides a solid foundation that is vital in a three piece band.
